Neat doodle! I don't know very much about pixel art, so I cannot offer much constructive criticism.
The little shaded bits really do add a lot, though! Sometimes, less really is more.

I really like this interpretation of Peach! Feels almost vintage with the hairstyle and more muted dress color.

Something about characters who wear hoods that obscruct their face shape really speaks to me.

What type of bug are they? Is it a made-up species?
Either way, a bug head with a humanoid body is such a cool design convention. Nice!
